The title of this chapter is "It Will Be a Long Night." Why was it a long night? Ellen has to stay with Annemarie and try to act like there sisters. It is also the last night oof September so all of Danish has to be dark and quit at night.
Why does Ellen spend the night with Annemarie? The Johansens are hiding her from the Nazi soldiers. If the soldiers show up, they planned to tell them that she was their daughter.
